Since 1949
Nelson has been a name synonymous with quality. More than 70 years later, we are still committed to original values of perseverance, encourage, and innovation, that were the basis for the first lumber supply store in Lloydminster, Alberta.
The Founders
On March 1, 1949 brothers Ray and Austin created Nelson Lumber in Lloydminster, Alberta. Their motto was simple - give people, always, top quality and more for their money. Business flourished, but the brothers soon realized that people needed more than just lumber and good advice.
Company Growth
In 1958 a separate division, Nelson Homes, was started. The convenience of the package home system was well received in areas where construction labour and efficient delivery were difficult to come by.
Truss Manufacturing
The Nelson's reputation for quality and convenience grew. A construction division was opened in 1962 to handle major building projects and shortly after three truss factories were added to keep up with demand.

Today with locations covering central and Northern Alberta, Nelson Lumber has become the leading supplier of building materials and manufactured roof trusses and floor joists for residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural projects.
